A reflection on memory, place and belonging, Fra La Medusa e L'Abisso (Between Medusa and the Abyss) focuses on the interplay of an ancient Sicilian city, its surrounding land and seascape, and the many people who populate it now. Drawing from feminist and postcolonial critique of Freud's "dark continent" and modern-day tourism, the film plays with language and gesture, becoming a mythic antiland that examines boundaries between historical and current, migrants and locals, us and them.

en la boca del volcán is a short form experimental documentary exploring the gendered relationship between landscape and memory. Incorporating both archival and original footage, it is a story searching for an unnamed woman who spent the later years of her life in exile in Mexico City. In the process of the search, however, nothing representative is left of this woman’s life there, as the rapid process of development and gentrification have seemingly erased all of her former haunts. Yet just by searching alone, this woman’s memory is revitalized and hope for remembering her place in history is restored.
